A ritual tale for all ages by Sylph Circus performers and students.
Offering is an original tale celebrating the elements of earth, air, fire and water through a graceful display of ritual dance and acrobatics. The arrival of Discord into the land of the Fae upsets the balance of things as both the sacred offering and the beloved children go missing.
Biannually we host a ticketed show that features our young students alongside of our more seasoned performers. Our tales are guaranteed to entertain and we welcome all members of the public to attend, to both support and delight in our talented circus community.

“MYSTERIOUS AND EVOCATIVE… A PLEASURE AND A TREAT”
Told through circus and song, Vasilissa is an immersive open air adventure presented by Sylph Circus and Sirin Ensemble, a choir of six powerful female voices. This retelling of the traditional Russian folk tale leads audiences through a secret Maleny forest following the adventures of Vasilissa, a young teen tricked by her peers into seeking fire from the witch of the woods.
Vasilissa is a coming of age story traditionally told to fortify girls on their journey to womanhood. Directed by Cindy Darabi (Director Sylph Circus) with musical director Stephanie Arlidge (Choir Master, Sirin Ensemble) it is a forest adventure for all ages. See here for the full review by Nothing Ever Happens In Brisbane (quoted above).
The show featured as part of the Anywhere Festival in May 2021 following a sell out premier season in Jan 2021. The creative development of Vasilissa was proudly supported by Sunshine Coast Council through the Regional Arts Development Fund in partnership with Arts Queensland.
