Hi everyone and welcome to Term 2 after a great first term for 2014!
A big welcome to all of our new students for 2014! Last term our first adult class kicked off and a very dedicated and supportive group of fun loving grown-ups are now part of the Sylph Circus team! Numbers have grown in both the junior and beginner aerial classes so Elle Nish came on board as an assistant trainer, helping Mylesia and Cindy last term. Natano Fa’anana, professional silks aerialist and special guest trainer, ran creative silks workshops for students 8yrs to adult. The Sylph Circus Performance Troupe has been selected and a group of nine dedicated students have started working towards a full length performance about refugees and asylum seekers in Australia. Special Guest Lou Walsh, who volunteers with refugees and asylum seekers, has been sharing her knowledge and network with the troupe.
This term classes will kick off during Week 2 of school. Please see the Autumn Program for new class times and fees. The only change is that the Junior Circus Skills class and Adult Aerial class have both moved to Wednesday afternoon and will now be held in the main hall. In class, we will not only be continuing to develop our technique training this term but we’ll also take a look at some ways to develop character and expression to start work on acts that we’ll gradually prepare for the in-class presentations in Term 3. The in-class presentations are for family and friends in place of the big student show this year.
Wishing you a great term of circus fun, fitness and creativity!
